Our Marketing Trend Predictions For 2023

A lot can happen in the space of a year especially in the digital space. From content saturation to email marketing and short form video content, here are some of our marketing trend predictions for the year ahead.

SHORT FORM VIDEO CONTENT

Is here to stay in 2023 after its rise and dominance in 2022. From Tik Tok videos to Instagram Reels, short form video content can be a powerful way to get your brand in front of your audience. Your content possibilities are limitless and we are seeing unedited and raw content perform as well, if not better then edited content.

While we utilised IG Reels in particular last year to show off our client work, you will be seeing Sophie and I in video form more often in 2023. We are also predicting the continued rise of wedding videographers as couples move from having a wedding video if there is budget left over to making it a non-negotiable alongside their wedding photographer.

CONTENT SATURATION

We have been feeling an over saturation, dare I say burnout towards the constant need for producing and posting content for several months now within our own portfolio of clients but also as a user of social media, in particular Instagram and Tik Tok. As more and more accounts generate and post content it feels as if we are all pushed to do more, more, more. 

But is more content, more often, better, or even sustainable?

The answer is no, and producing content for the sake of it is what is leading to content saturation. Instead we are going to see businesses that don’t want to compete based on volume of content take a more strategic and purposeful approach to their content - focusing on quality, consistency, alongside building trust and connection with the piece of content they create and share. As the time it takes to create the content increases these businesses will also be able to successfully leverage this content for multiple placements.

FOCUS ON COMMUNITY

What’s that saying… ‘with every action there is an equal and opposite reaction’. This is the perfect analogy as we see a focus on community being a priority in 2023. For years prior the goal was as many followers as possible and big influencers with big audiences. However as time moves on and as it becomes harder and harder to grow big audiences, we see a shift towards the beauty and power of small audiences.

Businesses are shifting to creating and nurturing a community of clients who are loyal, dedicated and avid fans of your business.

EMAIL MARKETING PREVAILS

The power of email marketing isn’t a new concept, it has long been seen to be one of the best conversion tools in marketing and sales, and I believe a lot of the wedding industry is not utilising email marketing as an effective marketing tool for their business. This links to our prediction of community focus with a shift away from the sole reliance on social media and a move to curating a community on your preferred platforms as well as speaking to them via email marketing.
